This conversation is informed by Ben's experience as the founder and publisher of two independent publishing houses (Bleak House Books 2000-2009 and Tyrus Books 2009-2017) that were later purchased by larger publishing companies. Seventeen+ years of living in that space, interacting with authors, agents, retailers, reviewers, and the other people who make the publishing industry move the way it does.
